Culinary activities
Mollet del Vallès plays host to a number of food-related fairs and festivities, which offer high-quality fresh and manufactured products.
For the Saint Pontius Fair, which takes place around 11 May, the Rambla in Mollet fills with stalls loaded with products made by hand at the El Bosc Occupational Centre. Food features heavily, with products from the confectionery workshop: sponge cakes, sweet and savoury muffins, cakes, puddings, pizzas, pastries, etc.
In May, Mollet also hosts the Festa Verda i de la Biodiversitat (Green and Sustainability Festival), which takes place over the course of one weekend in Can Borrell Park. Among other activities related to the environment, this event includes a stall featuring Gallecs dolç biscuits, made with wholegrain organic flour from Gallecs.
In mid-September, Mollet organises the Fira d’Artesans, one of the most acclaimed craft fairs in Catalonia, due to both the number of years it has been running and the authenticity of the handicrafts available for purchase from the participating stalls. It provides the public the opportunity to see the work of skilled artisans first-hand and take part in family-friendly bread-making, clay, pottery and woodworking workshops. The Fira d’Artesans also includes a number of traditional cultural and festive activities.
From the very beginning, the residents of Mollet’s historical centre have been actively involved in organising the fair, decorating the streets in a fully artisanal manner.
And come autumn, Gallecs plays host to several food-related activities based around local products: Benvinguts a pagès (Welcome to the Countryside), Fira de l’espelta (Spelt Fair) and Fira de la mongeta del ganxet (Ganxet Bean Fair).
