Bronze figure of a naked woman raising a flame and at whose feet are several laurel branches, symbol of the struggle for democratic values. The granite pedestal features a mural of a medallion bearing the effigy of former Catalan president Lluis Companys and, on two sides, anonymous faces and bodies, in commemoration of all the Republicans who died protecting freedom during both the Civil War and Francoist repression.

Every 15 October, the day on which Companys was executed, a tribute is paid at the memorial.
