This Modernist fountain was originally designed in 1921 by Domènec Sugrañes, at the time Mollet’s municipal architect and a disciple of Gaudí. During that period, the neighbourhood had no running water and residents would go to the fountain to fill their containers.
In 1961, the Francoist government demolished the drinking fountain and installed a decorative fountain.
In 1983, Mariona Bonet Agustí had it reconstructed with support from the Central District Residents’ Association and a financial contribution from the Municipal Council. It is currently listed in the Government of Catalonia’s Architectural Heritage Inventory.
