The new City Hall, which opened its doors on 9 November 2002, was designed by the team of architects at Serra Vives Cartagena.

It is comprised of two cement buildings. One, 11 storeys high, is used for administrative purposes and as the municipal archives; while the other, which is shaped like a cube, houses the public information service, the plenary meeting room, the mayor’s office and the offices of political representatives.

The structure boasts cutting-edge technology, such as the solar panels which produce the energy the building needs.

The southwestern façade is decorated with a mural by Joan Brossa: an enormous A, the primeval symbol of culture.
