Mollet International Puppet Festival
The Mollet International Puppet Festival (MITMO) was first held in 2007 and, since then, has evolved into a can’t-miss international event in the captivating realm of puppetry, particularly among children and families.
The Festival takes place each year over one weekend in April, from Friday afternoon to Sunday. Over the course of the weekend, Mollet sets the stage for numerous puppet shows, showcasing a range of different puppetry styles and techniques presented by distinguished companies from around the world.
Mollet has, during this time, become a prestigious platform for companies to exhibit and premiere their puppetry performances. While some are staged outdoors in the squares and streets, other shows take place indoors, in venues such as the Old Market and La Marineta. Most performances and shows are free of charge, although in certain cases, a nominal fee may be applied to regulate the number of spectators.
One of the Festival’s main local draws is Cal Titella, an interactive space in which children can explore and become acquainted with puppet theatre and various puppetry techniques.
The MITMO also features children’s workshops and parallel activities, as well as various stalls that sell toys, food and other products. One of the Festival’s classic products are Mollets, a type of biscuit baked by the young women and men from the El Bosc Occupational Centre, an integral part of the Municipal Institute for Services for People with Disabilities, which are sold exclusively at the MITMO information desk in Plaça de Prat de la Riba.
The MITMO is organised by the local company Galiot Teatre, in cooperation with the Mollet Municipal Council.
