Mollet del Vallès, a town of culture, fairs and tradition

Mollet del Vallès offers a wide and diverse range of cultural experiences throughout the year. The Abelló Museum and the Painter’s House stand out due to their significant permanent collection of over 10,000 items, which include paintings and sculptures by internationally renowned Catalan artists, as well as furniture, glass and porcelain objects, dresses and documents.

Mollet plays host not only to traditional festivals, but also to fairs and activities that have become benchmarks around Catalonia. These include Carnival, a unique celebration which takes place in February; the International Puppet Show, in April; la Festa de l'espigain May; the International Harlequin Festival, in June; Mollet Music Week, in July; the Fira d’Artesans or Craft Fair, in September; and the Sona Mollet: Anna Villaescusa Rebull Memorial International Music Festival, in October.

The City Fair is held in mid-August and features a comprehensive line-up of cultural and recreational activities. These include a long line of good-spirited competitions between the two rival groups: the Morats and Torrats.

For cultural enthusiasts, the Can Gomà Municipal Theatre stages a diverse and select range of activities all year round, including highly contemporary works. For more information, see the Arts i Escena (Arts and Stage) programme, a list of all of Mollet’s art-related activities.
